SINGAPORE (Sept 28): Institutional investors appear to be more confident as the State Street Global Investor Confidence Index (ICI) for September rose 5.8 points to 95.5, driven by increases in the Asian ICI and North American ICI.

The Investor Confidence Index measures investor confidence or risk appetite by analysing actual buying and selling pattern of institutional investors, where the greater the percentage allocation to equities, the greater the risk appetite or confidence. A reading of 100 is neutral, where investors are not increasing or decreasing their long-term allocations to risky assets.

Asian institutional investors continue to raise confidence according to the Asian ICI, growing from 105.9 in Aug to 118.6 in Sept. Investors here seem to have recovered confidence after the Asian ICI fell from 108.1 in July to August.
