SINGAPORE (Dec 6): Grab is going head-to-head with Uber’s new car-pooling service by launching its own version, raising the stakes in the battle between rival ride-hailing apps.

GrabShare, which went live on Tuesday, allows passengers to enjoy fares up to 30% cheaper than its private hire car-hailing service, GrabCar.

GrabShare only allows two bookings with similar routes at any one time. “Based on the feedback we received, one of the biggest pet peeves [among car-pooling passengers] is detours, and we want to minimise that,” says Lim Kell Jay (photo), head of Grab Singapore.
