SINGAPORE (Dec 15): Despite a surge of activity in 4Q, 2016 has been a forgettable year for the IPO market.

The number of IPOs in the year slipped 16% y-o-y to 1,055 even as the amount of capital raised fell 33% y-o-y to US$132.5 billion ($190.4 billion), according to a Global IPO Trends: 2016 Q4 quarterly report released on Thursday by EY.

In addition, the volume of megadeals, defined as IPOs with proceeds over US$1 billion, also fell 40% y-o-y to just 21, compared to 35 in 2015.
