Mermaid Maritime’s associate AOD clinches contract extension for third jackup rig

SINGAPORE (Dec 29): Mermaid Maritime announced that its associate Asia Offshore Drilling (AOD) has secured a three-year contract extension for its AOD III jackup rig.

With the extension, AOD III will continue to serve the customer in the Middle East after the contract expires at the end of the year until Dec 2019. This will add US$112 million ($162 million) in contract backlog.

Earlier in July, Mermaid announced that AOD had secured a three-year contract extension for each of jackup rigs AOD I and AOD II which would expire in June and July 2019 respectively. The extensions were expected to add US$225 million in contract backlogs.
