(Jan 25): Sembcorp Industries announced that its power plant in Chongqing has successfully started full commercial operation following the completion of its second 660-megawatt unit.

The 1,320-megawatt coal-fired plant comprises two units of 660 megawatts each, with the first unit completed in November 2016.

Located in Anwen, Qijiang district, the power plant costs about RMB 4.67 billion ($966.5 million) and is developed by ChongQing SongZao Sembcorp Electric Power, a 49:51 joint venture between Sembcorp’s wholly-owned subsidiary Sembcorp (China) Holding Co and Chongqing Energy Investment Group’s subsidiary Chongqing Songzao Coal and Power.
