SINGAPORE (May 30): Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday in one of the quietest sessions this year.

At 5.04pm, the Straits Times Index was down 0.21% or 5.76 at 2,796.75. The broader market saw about 834.5 million shares traded with a value of about $600 million. Gainers outnumbered losers 198 to 186.

Noble Group closed 8.2% lower at 28 cents after announcing the resignation of Yusuf Alireza, Chief Executive Officer. Noble also said it is looking to sell its Noble America Energy Solutions business, a prized part of the embattled firm.
