SINGAPORE (Aug 23): Singapore stocks ended slightly firmer as investors remained cautious ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's speech on the economy at the end of the week.

As at 5.04pm, the key Straits Times Index (STI) was up 9.24 points or 0.33% to 2,850.43. About 1.33 billion shares with a value of 735.1 million changed hands. Losers outnumbered gainers 184 to 170.

Among the most actives, Magnus Energy saw 435 million shares traded, earning a query from the Singapore Exchange. LionGold was next with 101.5 million shares trading hands while Noble Group was third with a trading volume of 73.2 million.
