SINGAPORE (Sept 13): Singapore stocks closed weaker on Tuesday, thanks largely to catch-up trading following a public holiday on Monday when other global markets fell sharply.

As at 5.04pm, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) was down 1.9% or 54.95 points to 2,818.38. About 1.3 billion shares valued at $1.4 billion were traded. Losers outnumbered gainers 323 to 93.

Noble Group was the most active with 207.4 million shares changing hands. Ezra was next with 96 million shares while Annica saw 45 million shares traded.
