SINGAPORE (Oct 13): Singapore stocks closed down for the fifth straight day on Thursday.

The 30-stock index closed 0.3% lower at 2,805.48 tracking weak cues from regional markets which were pulled down by data showing that China’s September exports were down sharply from a year earlier, as global demand for goods remained sluggish.

Overnight, the Federal Reserve minutes offered investors few new insights about the next interest-rate increase. Investors had come to expect that the Fed would raise short-term interest rates in December.
