SINGAPORE (Oct 14): The Singapore stock market closed higher on Friday, after five straight sessions of losses as investors shrugged off a plunge in 3Q GDP and an unchanged monetary policy.

The 30-stock Straits Times Index closed about 0.4% higher at 2,815.24, following positive cues from most of its regional peers.

Singapore’s GDP unexpectedly shrank 4.1% in the third quarter on a seasonally-adjusted and annualised basis compared with the previous quarter.
