SINGAPORE (June 8): Trek 2000 International, which is assisting the Commercial Affairs Department’s (CAD) investigation of a possible criminal offence, has clarified concerns about the hiring of a senior manager from a rival information technology firm.

The company, which invented the thumb drive, announced the appointment of Edwin Long Ming Fai, the president of New Silkroutes Group, as its executive director and deputy chief executive officer on June 2.

Long resigned from New Silkroutes on May 4 and is currently on leave while serving out his notice until June 30, Trek 2000 said in a regulatory filing.
