Design story was recommended by 2 of my colleagues and I finally decided to work with them after shortlisted the other IDs/contractor. Emily was assigned to me. I felt comfortable talking to her over the phone during our first chat and of course I felt comfortable working with her. She is responsive to our needs and our enquires. Thanks to Emily for her help and guidance to walk through with us with our renovation process!

Like many young couples, we started our BTO renovation journey by sourcing through many many different Interior Designers. There were those that were superficial, to those that were super pushy. We even had some that requested for a deposit for them to provide a quotation. Design Story is probably our 10th IDs we’ve met and prior to that, the experience was super daunting. Having heard horror stories from our friends on their renovation, we definitely do not want to go through the process of chasing after our IDs or having them ghosted us especially after waiting for our BTO for more than 5 years. Our project was assigned to Emily who is a humorous and highly responsible lady. The first meeting was really pleasant and we were even shocked that she suggested not to do certain items so we could save money. None of the IDs we met previously will put themselves in our shoes and try understanding from our perspective. For example, our kitchen layout is pathetically tiny and no other ID was able to provide a practical and yet aesthetic design. Emily was able to make use of dead spaces and came up with a solution to fit our needs and lifestyle. She provided us with a detailed timeline which was closely followed and handed over the house that looks 99% similar to the 3D drawing. During the renovation period, Emily would personally go down weekly (sometimes 2 times a week) to check and take videos of the progress. We missed out on some of the defects and instead of covering up, she would make sure that it’s rectify nicely and properly. (I mean, which IDs would still point out minor defect on the day of handover? *haha*) We learnt a lot from her and it’s sad that our renovation journey had come to an end. Overall, the process was smooth sailing and transparent. A big thank you to Emily and her team, we had no regret engaging The Design Story and we highly recommend their service.

Two words: No Regrets. Like others, we went for consultations with many ID firms before deciding to engage Design Story for the renovation of our home. One of the many reasons why we chose Design Story is that, it has its own in-house fabrication for carpentry works which means all the built-ins cabinets for our home are done locally. The quoted price was also reasonable and competitive with other ID firms with no hidden costs. Our ID, Frank Lim, is experienced, knowledgeable, professional, responsive and helpful. He is also attentive to our requirements and provides inputs (from an ID perspectives) for our considerations to make the space looks better and functional. He also gave us constant updates during the renovation process and the renovation was completed on time as scheduled. We have since moved into our newly renovated home and are very happy with the outcome. The carpentry workmanship is of good quality and look so good! We can’t believe the beautiful 3D designs that Frank did for us turn into reality. Emily was our ID, and from day 1 she was creative, responsive to our needs and very responsive. Every single detail was tended to and all the deadlines met (she gave us a very detailed work schedule)! She was such a joy to work with. Our project was completed in 9 to 10 weeks (hacking, painting, plumbing, lighting, carpentry etc)! She also did a great 3D render. It was such a joy working with her, would recommend 5/5.
