SIA reports 24.8% y-o-y growth in passenger traffic in September operating results update

The Singapore Airlines C6L

(SIA) group says its passenger traffic grew 24.8% y-o-y, for the month of September 2023, outpacing capacity expansion of 23.7%. 

The group’s passenger load factor increased 0.7 percentage points (ppts) y-o-y to reach 87.7%. 

SIA and Scoot posted monthly passenger load factors of 87.6% and 88.1% respectively. Both airlines carried a combined total of 2.9 million passengers during the month, up 36.% y-o-y.

Its cargo operations posted a load factor of 57.1%, or 0.7 ppts higher y-o-y. Cargo loads rose by 6.1% y-o-y, which was higher than the capacity expansion of 4.6% on the back of increased bellyhold capacity from passenger services. 

As at end September 2023, the group’s passenger network covered 119 destinations in 36 countries and territories. SIA served 75 destinations, while Scoot served 67 destinations. The cargo network comprised 124 destinations in 38 countries and territories.  

Shares in SIA closed 11 cents lower or 1.71% down at $6.33 on Oct 16.
