SINGAPORE (Apr 22): ComfortDelGro Taxi will be extending the full taxi rental waiver for its cabbies by another month.
This comes on the back of news that circuit breaker measures will be extended till June 1.
The move is expected to set ComfortDelGro back by an additional $17 million, bringing the total relief package given to its cabbies to $116 million.

Due to falling passenger traffic amid the Covid-19 outbreak, some of ComfortDelGro’s cabbies have taken on alternative roles in the form of food delivery drivers, with about 110 of them providing food delivery services for partners such as foodpanda, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), and Pizza Hut.

“With the circuit breaker period being extended by another month and further tightening of the existing circuit breaker measures, our cabbies will continue to be hard-hit and find it difficult to make ends meet. We have therefore decided to waive the taxi rental in full till the end of the extended circuit breaker period. Times like these, we have to band together and face the challenges together,” says ComfortDelGro Taxi CEO Ang Wei Neng.
