SINGAPORE (Dec 27): Vividthree Holdings, the visual effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI) company, says it is in talks to acquire comics content creator, DarkBox Studio.
DarkBox Studio creates comics animation for the Web and various social media platforms. The company has been involved in projects with famous clients including Disney, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and the Jim Henson Company.
DarkBox is also the exclusive creator of popular webcomic series such as Tiresias, Panic Room and Dante Shinigami, says Vividthree in a Thursday filing.
It did not state how much Vividthree would pay for DarkBox.
"DarkBox has a large following across Asia and the United States, with a daily reach of over 15,000 on WeChat China and an organic reach of up to 1.5 million per day on Facebook," it adds.
Earlier this month, DarkBox and Vividthree recently collaborated to launch ComicVid, an OTT (over-the-top) comic video platform.
"The proposed acquisition is expected to provide the group with more IP titles to increase its revenue stream," says Vividthree.
Year to date, shares in Vividthree, which is 41.5% owned by Mainboard-listed film production company mm2 Asia, are down 0.05 cent at 14 cents.
