BOC Aviation appoints former SIA CFO as new chief risk officer
He replaces outgoing chief risk officer David Farrell, who has resigned due to family reasons.

Singapore-based aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation has appointed Stephen Barnes as its chief risk officer with effect from July 12.

Barnes was formerly the chief financial officer (CFO) at Singapore Airlines (SIA). He has over 35 years of experience in the airline, aircraft leasing and banking industries.

He replaces outgoing chief risk officer David Farrell, who has resigned due to family reasons.

Farrell will remain with BOC Aviation will mid-August to ensure a smooth transition of duties.

Barnes will oversee all risk management matters globally. He will be based in BOC Aviation’s Singapore headquarters.

He will report to the group’s vice-chairman and deputy managing director, Zhang Xiaolu.

“We thank David for his dedication and contributions to the company over the last 15 years and wish him well in the future,” says Robert Martin, managing director and CEO.

“Stephen brings with him broad experience of the airline, leasing and banking industries and we look forward to working with him,” Martin adds.

Shares in BOC Aviation closed HK$1.45 higher or 2.3% up at HK$64.35 ($11.19) on July 12.
