Singapore’s Public Utilities Board (PUB), the national water agency, announced that Ong Tze-Chin will be appointed as chief executive, with effect from Nov 1. He succeeds Goh Si Hou, who will be taking on another senior leadership appointment in the public service.

Ong will continue to hold the appointment of deputy secretary (resilience) in the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE).

Goh was appointed as the chief executive of PUB in 2022. Under his leadership, PUB set out long-term strategies to strengthen Singapore’s water security and climate resilience. Goh also led PUB in the development of the Water Masterplan, put in place PUB’s sustainability drive and advanced PUB’s new mandate as the national coastal protection agency.

Ong is currently the deputy secretary (resilience) in MSE, overseeing water and food policies, international relations, communications and engagement, as well as emergency planning. He was previously also the chief executive of SkillsFuture Singapore and concurrent deputy secretary (SkillsFuture) in the Ministry of Education (MOE), director of military intelligence/ chief C4I, and commander of the third Singapore division in the Singapore Armed Forced (SAF).
