ComfortDelGro (CDG) has announced a new umbrella division called the private mobility group (PMG) that will see its taxi, private bus, car rental and leasing and lifestyle businesses offered on a single platform.
The move aims to synergise and leverage on ComfortDelGro’s land transport solutions, whilst making it easier for customers to gain access to the various services in the group.
CDG states that a ‘mega app’ will be introduced by early next year, allowing customers to select from the various services available. “Taxi users can therefore opt to rent a car for the weekend just by clicking on the “One CDG” option on the app,” CDG says in its press release announcing PMG on June 7.
The new app will also bring together the lifestyle options like restaurant bookings that are currently available on the newly-launched Zig app.
Jackson Chia, CDG’s group chief risk & sustainability officer, will be heading the new PMG. He will hold both posts concurrently until a replacement is found for his current position.
As chief executive of the PMG, he will report directly to the managing director/group CEO and oversee the various business units comprising ComfortDelGro Taxi, ComfortDelGro Bus, ComfortDelGro Rent-a-Car and Zig.

The new PMG will have a combined fleet size of over 12,000.
Chia says pooling CDG’s resources in the PMG will enable the group to develop smart and green intermodal mobility solutions for clients. “With scale and our diverse range of assets, we will be better positioned to forge partnerships to experiment and offer innovative products and services,” he says.
“In future, we will even add other services in the Group like learner driving services and medical transport. The intent is to cross-market CDG’s extensive range of transport solutions to enable convenience to the different communities that we serve,” Chia adds.
As at 9.41am, shares in CDG are trading flat at $1.67.
