The Life of Stars
Off to Shanghai this weekend and have some time to spare? Check out Lindy Lee’s The Life of Stars presented by Sullivan+Strumpf. It is a brilliant ensemble of artworks, ranging from works on paper to small-scale free-flowing bronze sculpture. Lee’s style of art explores her Chinese ancestry through Taoism and Ch’an (Zen) Buddhism – philosophies that see humanity and nature as inextricably linked. She employs chance and spontaneity to produce a galaxy of images that embody the intimate connections between human existence and the cosmos. Her works are meditative, often revealing themselves through time.

Venue: Shanghai Exhibition Centre at Yong Xin Building, No. 887 Mid. HuaiHai Road, Shanghai China, 200020.
Date: 9 to 12 Nov

At the movies
You know it is going to be a movie that will be both thought-provoking and funny at the same time when it reunites director George Clooney and writers Joel and Ethan Cohen. Suburbicon stars Matt Damon as a meek husband and father whose life is turned upside down when he has a new neighbour. Look out for a great script that has many unexpected twists and turns in the plot.

5 to 9
ArtScience Museum will be screening 5 to 9, a collaborative film by four regional directors – Tay Bee Pin (Singapore), Daisuke Miyazaki (Japan), Vincent Du (China) and Rasiguet Sookkarn (Thailand). First premiered in Singapore at the 26th SGIFF, 5 to 9 comprises four short stories that transpire and interweave from 5pm to 9am on the evening of the historic Brazil-Germany match during World Cup 2014, spanning intimate vignettes of unrequited love and final meetings.
