SINGAPORE (May 8): Spring/summer 2020 women’s trends are fresh and fashion-forward, with prints such as polka dots and tiered styles that give outfits a lot of movement. Other trends seen on most runways are the shorts suit, waistcoat and disco collar
Titillating tiers
Designers have given their fabric construction more vibrancy and movement with tiered dresses and skirts. Iris van Herpen and Alexandre Vauthier brought volume and drama to their respective runways with their exceptional creations.
Spot on
This season, polka dots are big, in more ways than one. This timeless trend, seen on the catwalks of both Valentino and Carolina Herrera, is bolder and more pronounced on a mix of skirts, dresses and jackets. No more dainty spots this year.
Disco for life
Collars, the true rebels of the season, no longer give in to being tucked underneath blazers and coats as they erupt from their usual hiding places. Disco collars, a stunning Studio 54 throwback, have been modernised in a variety of looks by all the major players, including Lanvin, Ferragamo and JW Anderson. They are often pieced together with contrasting colours for full effect. Because, really, what’s the point of a super collar if you can’t see it?
