Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery

After more than a year in business, Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery finds its first home at 9 Penang Road. Co-founded by MasterChef Singapore Season 1 runner-up Genevieve Lee, Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery now offers its stuffed sourdough bombolinis for takeaway and delivery.

Expect nine Sourbombe flavours, including best-selling signatures like the Cinnabombe and Basque Burnt Cheesecake. The 900 sq ft store features a takeaway kiosk, retail section and a production kitchen that can cater to both online and offline sales.

At the beverage bar, enjoy a series of artisanal brews created to complement your choice of treats, from cold brew coffee by Asterix Coffee to house- made kombucha and dairy-free tea lattes.

“Opening a physical store has always been in our plans since the beginning. With a proper production kitchen, we can finally scale up our volume and satisfy our customers’ growing appetites,” says Lee.

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery is open from 8am to 4pm from Tuesdays to Fridays, and 9am to 5pm on weekends.

PODCAST
No. 1 crime thriller podcast
Fey Hollow: The Fairy Tale Murders

If you enjoy podcasts and murder mysteries, you’ll enjoy driving or jogging to AXN Asia’s first-ever crime thriller podcast Fey Hollow: The Fairy Tale Murders — now #1 under Apple Podcasts’ “Fiction” category, and #5 overall on Spotify Singapore.

It follows the story of two detectives tracking down a sadistic serial killer who uses brutal fairy tale-inspired rituals to murder his victims. Listeners will get to choose the fate of Fey Hollow with a unique dual ending.

Launched last month, the immersive eight-episode audio drama produced by KCGM Asia has extremely good production quality from its sound effects to scriptwriting and storytelling, voiced by a bevy of international talents along with Singapore’s local homegrown artists — Lim Kay Tong, Naomi Yeo and DJ Joshua Simon.

Fey Hollow: The Fairy Tale Murders is available to listeners worldwide on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Awedio by SPH, SYOK by Astro Radio and other leading podcast directories. New episodes come out every Sunday.

FESTIVAL
Celebrating women online
Festival of Women N.O.W. 2021

What is sex and intimacy like for elderly women? And how have mother-daughter relationship dynamics changed in this modern world? We dare you to find out at this year’s Festival of Women N.O.W. from now till July 31.

Conceptualised by theatre artist Noorlinah Mohamed in 2019, and presented by T:>Works, Festival of Women N.O.W. celebrates alliances and solidarity between women through engagement, collaboration and dialogue. Like last year, the event powers on as a completely digital experience with livestreamed performances and cabaret, digital exhibitions, online workshops and conversations featuring over 60 collaborators from all walks of life.

Each event brings to focus some under discussed topics: from the invisibility of Tamil women, to narratives of joy within historically marginalised communities, to raising uncomfortable questions on intimacy, desire and well-being in ageing bodies. The diverse programmes reveal inner secrets and musings, and invite open conversations and dialogue on varying perspectives.

EXHIBITION
Greatest male ballet dancer of all time
DANCE: A tribute to Rudolf Nureyev

As part of its year-long French Excellence programme to pr mote Parisian culture, arts and language, Alliance Française de Singapour will be holding an exhibition to honour the life and work of world-renowned ballet dancer, Rudolf Nureyev.

From now till Sept 15, Alliance Française will (for the first time) showcase 14 original stage costumes of Rudolf Nureyev in which he performed some of the greatest dance masterpieces, plus 49 unpublished photos. In conjunction with the two-month exhibition, there will be a calendar of events, including workshops, talks, dance performances, film screenings, and more.

Born in the Soviet Union, Nureyev started his professional ballet career in Leningrad, and made his mark when he became principal dancer for The Royal Ballet in London in the 80s. He subsequently served as director of the Paris Opera Ballet. He passed away in 1993 at age 54. A highly technical dancer widely known for his suspended leaps and seemingly impossible fast pirouettes, Nureyev is regarded by some as the greatest male ballet dancer of his generation.
