SINGAPORE (Mar 20): If you have been mulling over what timepiece to buy for a while now, these brands will probably have something you might like

A. Lange & Söhne

Those after German precision should perhaps consider the Odysseus, a new and the sixth watch in the Saxon family. It is a sporty watch that features a 40.5mm stainless steel case with a dark blue dial with the day-of-week and date display. Movement of the watch is a newly developed L155.1 Datomatic manufacture calibre which is visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback. Finally, a stainless-steel bracelet that is adjustable up to 7mm through an adjustable safety deployant buckle completes the look. By pressing the pusher embossed with the Lange signature, the bracelet can be pulled or pushed to adjust the desired length.

Panerai

Long known as the go-to watch for the adventure seeker, Panerai’s Luminor Marina Carbotech – 44 mm (PAM01661) does not disappoint. For the first time, the collection combines the high-performance composite material developed by Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee and the aesthetically-pleasing Sandwich dial in vibrant shades of blue and the Carbotech case. Carbotech is a cutting-edge composite, formed by superimposing layers of carbon fibre which are alternately aligned, then consolidated under pressure and controlled temperature with a binding matrix, based on PEEK (polyether ether ketone). Technical details aside, the watch runs on the P.9010 calibre that is entirely designed and developed by Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel.

Vacheron Constantin

Here is another maison that has given the women’s collection the spotlight this year. But for Vacheron Constantin, this is not new as the first pocket watches for ladies were introduced around the turn of the 18th century. This year, the spirit has been recaptured via the launch of the Égérie collection. Creative designs include a pleated effect on the dial that looks like a piece of exquisite fabric with the off-centred placement of the crown. Another design features a mother of pearl moon peeping behind a cloud. The interchangeable strap allows you to keep your look fresh everyday as you match the strap to your outfit.

Piaget

The spotlight falls on women in this year’s offering, the Limelight Gala collection that was supposed to have been featured at this year’s Watches & Wonders fair which has been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Here, we share with you a sneak peek at the latest iterations that was inspired by the 1973 iconic collection that was all about the Piaget Society where A-listers threw or attended fabulous parties. It was a time of indulgences and this was incorporated into the 2020 designs with its sensual curves, cambered case and asymmetrical lugs that extend from each side of the case onto the bracelet. Each piece follows Piaget’s four pillars of excellence: The Art of Gold, The Art of Light, The Art of Colour and The Art of Movement.

Van Cleef & Arpels

Lady Arpels Pont des Amoureux timepiece by Van Cleef & Arpels tells the love story of two lovers who meet on a bridge in Paris twice a day: at midday and at midnight. Each watch’s self-winding mechanical movement is fitted with a specially developed retrograde module. The lady moves forward progressively to mark the hours, while her beloved crosses his half of the bridge in 60 minutes. At midday and midnight, they share a tender kiss. To recreate that instant at any time, the watches of the Pont des Amoureux collection now have an animation-on-demand module: the kiss can be relived at the press of a button.
