SINGAPORE (April 28): Since succeeding his father as CEO in January 2016, Jeffrey Soon has been trying to steer Heatec Jietong into the chemicals industry, which could offer more opportunity for growth than the offshore and marine (O&M) sector.

But he might need to make acquisitions to pull it off, which could involve tapping investors for money.

Heatec Jietong specialises in producing piping systems, and building and servicing heat exchangers. It also provides chemical cleaning services. While its customers have traditionally been players in the O&M sector, its products and services are also needed by oil refiners, chemical producers and power generators that operate on Jurong Island.
