SINGAPORE (Feb 19): From 2019, Singapore will introduce a carbon tax of $5 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions which will be levied on major emitters, said Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat in his Budget 2018 statement.

These include facilities producing 25000 tonnes or more of greenhouse gas emissions in a year.

Government will also set aside funds starting from 2019 to enhance support for companies, including SMEs and power generation companies, to improve energy efficiency.
