SINGAPORE (Nov 14): The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has released a guide to digital token offerings or initial coin offerings, where capital is raised via the use of cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.

In its new guide, which is available for download on its website, MAS has defined "digital tokens that constitute capital market products" as digital tokens representing equity in a corporation, a debenture of the issuer, or a unit in a collective investment scheme (CIS).

Any person wishing to offer digital tokens in any of the definitions by MAS will be required to comply with the Securities and Futures Act (SFA), which includes registering a prospectus with Singapore’s central bank.
