Singapore will tighten border and community measures from May 1, in response to the rise in community cases.

The reshuffle will see changes in seven key ministries including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

According to Wong, this new strain has not been detected in Singapore yet.

Testing is now done at a rate of 10,000 daily.

Singapore is on track to lift more restrictions on companies and residents by the end of June, and expects practically the entire economy to reopen in that phase, according to Minister for National Development, Lawrence Wong.

Singapore’s daily average number of cases has dipped from 40 to 32 since the circuit-breaker begun on April 7. Even so, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong says the city state should prepare for a “long fight”.
