Did you know that over half of the airport emergencies globally are linked to foreign object debris (FOD) such as loose hardware by engines, fragments of broken pavement and wildlife? However, airports can only conduct limited manual inspections per day as runway closure is an opportunity cost.

To address that issue, NCS supported Changi Airport Group (CAG) to develop a FOD detection system called iFerret 2.0. It uses intelligent image processing software integrated with electro-optic sensors to enable automated, fast and accurate FOD, location, recording and analytics functions before sending real-time alerts to air traffic control and ground safety teams.

iFerret 2.0 is currently deployed at three of Changi Airport’s runways and has reduced false alarms by more than tenfold. NCS is also working with CAG to deploy the system at overseas airports.

DIGITAL LIFE

Struggling to get relevant and personalised responses from generative AI tools like ChatGPT? Try these techniques to write better prompts and guide them more effectively.

TipsExamples of good prompts
Be specific with your prompts and provide sufficient contextI work for a non-profit that helps improve access to healthcare in rural areas. I am working on a report that describes what we do and why it’s important. The report will be sent to the local government leaders I want to work with. You can visit our website at [website URL] for more context. Once you’ve done that, draft an outline of the report.
Get the generative AI tool to assume a personaYou are a search engine optimisation expert. Please list the most popular long-tail keywords related to [topic].
Instruct the generative AI tool to emulate a particular style, person or brandExplain quantum computing in the playful style of Dr. Seuss.
Specify the format and length of the responseSummarise the attached report so the executive team can review the key takeaways. The summary should be no longer than 500 words long. Use bullets to highlight key data points.
Specify what you don’t wantDraft a 500-word blog post discussing the benefits and risks of AI in banking. Avoid using technical jargon and mentioning any claims without references.
Use chained prompting, wherein you break a complex task for the generative AI tool into smaller steps to get more relevant, focused responses. I am writing a business plan for a flower shop. I will ask you to create the business plan step by step. Here is the first step: Create an outline of what the business plan should include. After you get a response, ask the generative AI tool to draft the first section of the business plan. Tell it which details to include or exclude.Next, provide feedback on its response. For example, you can ask the tool to focus on your same-day services or ties to the local community.Keep going section by section until you’ve completed a draft of the plan, making sure to give feedback as you go.
