The Scientist was our first choice for renovations on our 3 BR condo + roof terrace. They did a site visit and took thorough notes. Afterward, there was no further follow-up from them despite multiple follow-up attempts on our end. The answer we got from them was the same every time, "our team is reviewing and we will walk you through the plan in a week's time", but that never happened. In the end, we found an alternate designer who did a brilliant job at a similar price point as The Scientist. Would not recommend.

We were looking for an ID for a new 5 room BTO. The scientist was high on my list during my search as they had really nice colour and some interesting layout ideas. Sze Yik was my ID and was very patient and helpful during the entire process of consultation and proposing a layout. While ultimately we did not proceed with the project due to our budget, I would still highly recommend looking for Sze Yik. We were really impressed with her attention to detail when compared to other IDs, in that she remembered all the small preferences that we mentioned to her on our first meeting, and it is reflected in her proposed design. She was able to weave in our preferences (which are sometimes conflicting), into a modern looking design that flows well, yet does not look overly complicated. The layout she proposed was also rather unique, while also staying practical and functional - something very hard to do in the standard 5 room BTO templates and limited space we have. She was also very professional in her work, as shes always prepared with the information we want, providing figures and facts rather than approximations. From our conversation, we can tell she is also very experienced in this field as she knew many things on her fingertips. She was also able to connect and communicate with us well, and able to explain why certain things we want are not practical, giving us better suggestions that we ourselves didnt think of. At no time we felt the pressure to sign with the scientist, and i believe Sze Yik did not spare any effort in giving us proposals and revisions, even though eventually we did not sign with them. It is really unfortunate that our budget was not able to fit, probably due to the recent increase in carpentry and tiling prices. However, our experience with the scientist during our ID search was good enough that I felt that it is worth my time to write a long review. Hope that this helps anyone who comes across this page, im surprised there is not more reviews here.

Shoutout for the firm. If you don’t have 80k budget, please don’t waste their time. The entry level is 80k. Also, please make sure your house is a condo. If it’s a hdb, they don’t usually want to deal with it. This is just an honest review to save time for house owners and the firm alike. “The entry level is 80k” - (Alvin and Kristina, 2021)
