Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will visit Malaysia on Jan 6 - 7 for the 11th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat, where several agreements reflecting the "multifaceted and mutually beneficial partnership across various domains" will be exchanged, according to Singapore's Prime Minister's Office.
At Putrajaya, PM Wong will be hosted by his counterpart Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anwar Ibrahim.
Singapore's PMO says the annual Leaders’ Retreat is a vital platform for the two Prime Ministers to set the overall direction for bilateral cooperation, and identify new ways to further enhance connectivity to deliver tangible benefits for the people of both countries.
“Both leaders are also scheduled to witness the exchange of the joint agreement on Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ)," says Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The much-anticipated SEZ is seen to further boost business and economic ties between the two countries.
"Both sides will also continue constructive efforts towards managing our outstanding bilateral issues, taking into account our abiding interdependencies and shared commitment to forward-looking ties," adds Singapore's PMO.
