The UK could allow easier market access for specialist trading houses that don’t hold retail deposits, according to the head of the Financial Conduct Authority in pre-released remarks.

In the two years through June 2023, some 1,358 bank and building-society branches and 4,450 ATMs closed in the UK.

The numbers coincide with the publication of the Financial Conduct Authority’s much-awaited overhaul of the UK’s listing rules.
