CGS-CIMB analyst William Tng has upgraded Jardine Matheson to “add” from “hold” due to its strong balance sheet that can help see the company through the uncertainties arising from Covid-19.

Jardine Matheson and Jardine Strategic both saw earnings for the half-year period decline 49% y-o-y to US$373 million ($513.2 million) and US$395 million respectively.

On May 22, Kwong Yong Sin, former group managing director at Silverlake Axis, the provider of software for banks, bought 250,000 shares from the open market at an average price of 22.5 cents.
