SINGAPORE (May 11): Eight pre-Series A startups involved in food technology (foodtech) and agriculture technology (agriculture) have been named as finalists in the inaugural edition of the Future Food Asia Award (FFAA).

As many as 100 startups applied for the award during the application period between Jan and April 2017, says Isabelle Decitre, CEO of awards organiser ID Capital. Her company is a boutique investment firm and consultancy that aims to help startups build sustainable food solutions.

Singapore startup Smart Animal Husbandry Care is developing an earpiece for pigs, which can predict when a sow is ready for breeding. This helps pig farmers optimise their yield and productivity. The company hopes to cater to China’s growing pork market.
