SINGAPORE (Sept 21): For the second year in a row, Singapore ranks first in HSBC’s Expat Explorer report as the best destination in the world to live, work, and raise a family abroad due to a combination of factors including financial wellbeing, family life and overall experience.

According to HSBC, expatriates in Singapore earn salaries averaging at about US$139,000 ($189,200) a year.

The Republic has notably emerged first in the category of economic confidence, with 73% of expats in Singapore reportedly feeling confident about the local economy compared to 52% in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Participants generally concede that Singapore is a better place to save more money (60%), enjoy better career progression (62%), and start a business (58%) compared to their countries of origin.
