SINGAPORE (Oct 7): Singapore’s latest government agency, Government Technology Agency (GovTech) was launched on Friday to spearhead digital transformation, along with a host of new initiatives aimed at enhancing public service delivery.

The new agency will continue to work on the Smart Nation Initiative, and will set up six new Capability Centres in:

  • Application design (software design and development, solution architecting)
  • Cybersecurity (with the Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore)
  • Data Science
  • Government Infocomm Technology Infrastructure
  • Geospatial Technology (with Singapore Land Authority)
  • Sensors and IoT (Internet of Things)

“GovTech will make use of industry best practices, and will embrace concepts from other disciplines such as design thinking and behavioral science,” says Yaacob Ibrahim, minister for communications and information.
