SINGAPORE (Aug 26): Asian equities and mutual funds continue to enjoy immense popularity among investors around the world, as seen from the latest foreign institutional investor (FII) flow figures reported by HSBC Global Research, which measure net flows into equity markets.

With expectations of global rates to remain lower for longer as well as receding concerns about China’s growth, emerging markets (EM) in Asia continued to see positive fund flows as of Aug 24 as FIIs moved US$6.6 billion ($8.9 billion) into the region, excluding China.

Global funds have also added exposure in eight of 10 Asian markets, indicating a warming up to Asian equities. Latest holdings for July show that both yield and growth remain the preferred themes for mutual funds.
