SINGAPORE (Aug 12): When The Edge Singapore put together a list of 10 stock-picks at the start of the year, the market was reeling from slumping commodity prices, a ballooning debt problem in China and concerns about slowing global growth.

Since then, the market has been plagued by even more uncertainty. Despite the market turmoil, the Straits Times Index has gained 11.5% over the past 6 months. Including dividends, it delivered a total return of 14.5% for the period.

Our portfolio, on the other hand, has risen an average of 14%, or 17.5% including dividends.
