SINGAPORE (Oct 27): Public transport operators SBS Transit, SMRT, and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will see a total decrease in fare revenue of about $79 million a year, after the Public Transport Council (PTC) on Thursday announced a 4.2% decrease in public bus and rail fares starting Dec 30.

SBS Transit, SMRT and LTA will see fare revenue fall by $8.9 million, $34.6 million, and $35.6 million, respectively.

Some 2.2 million commuters are expected to benefit from the revision, with commuters seeing a fare reduction of up to 27 cents per trip.
