SINGAPORE (July 19): Ornamental fish breeder Qian Hu Corporation reported a 25% increase in 2Q16 earnings to $15,000 from $12,000 a year ago.

While group revenue was down 4.6% to $19.1 million due to lower sales from all its business segments, Qian Hu’s ornamental fish segment, which accounts for about 86% of its total revenue, saw a rise in operating profit by 106% to $173,000.

The group says in a Tuesday filing that the increase in profitability registered by the unit is a result of the “difference in sales mix, coupled with the reliance and resilience” of the ornamental fish business.
