SINGAPORE (Sept 16): Singapore's exports in August stalled as overseas demand remains anaemic, numbers from trade promotion agency International Enterprise (IE) Singapore showed on Friday.

On a year-on-year basis, non-oil domestic exports (NODX) registered zero percent growth in the month compared to the 10.6% contraction in the previous month, as the 2.7% increase in non-electronic NODX outweighed the 6% decline in electronic NODX.

The rise in non-electronic NODX was led by growth in the categories of non-electric engines & motors, specialised machinery, and structural parts made of iron, steel & aluminium. On the other hand, the decrease in electronic domestic exports was largely due a fall in the exports of PCs, disk drives and ICs.
