SINGAPORE (Aug 4): The widely anticipated – and possibly dreaded – US Presidential Election is but three months away. Taking place on November 8, the event will determine whether Republican candidate Donald Trump will take the President of the United States (POTUS) seat, or if the title will go to his Democrat opponent, Hillary Clinton.

“The reason the world is paying extra attention to this year’s election is clearly Donald Trump,” says UOB’s head of research and investor relations, Jimmy Koh, in a Wednesday note.

While Koh believes both candidates have an equal chance of winning, he comments on how far Trump has come by “stunning the establishment by brushing aside 15 other contenders” to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination ticket, despite starting out as the outlier early in the Republican primaries.
