SINGAPORE (Oct 17): The Straits Times Index eked out a 0.1% gain to close at 2,817.07 on Monday, recovering in the last moments of trade after the morning session was weighed down by weak export data.

Other Asian markets provide a mixed lead, while corporate announcements keep some individual counters busy.

Among gainers are offshore marine and shipbuilding firms. Sembcorp Marine closed 3 cents higher at $1.35 while Keppel Corp closed 4 cents higher at $5.33.
