SINGAPORE (Sept 26): Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, in line with the wider region after a negative lead from the US last Friday.

As at 5.04pm, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) was down 0.25% or 7.01 points at 2,849.94. In the broader market, 1.25 billion shares valued at $662.4 million changed hands. Losers outnumbered gainers 226 to 162.

Magnus Energy was the most active stock, with 103.4 million shares traded. Noble Group was next with 90.9 million shares and Annica was third with 90.8 million.
