SINGAPORE (Sept 16): Singapore stocks closed higher on Friday, the first gain in five days following overnight strength on Wall Street and investors take advantage of the recent decline.

As at 5.04pm, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) was up 0.8% or 21.93 points to 2,827.45. About 1 billion shares valued at $938.1 million were traded. Gainers outnumbered losers 191 to 169.

Magnus Energy was the most active with 183.2 million shares changing hands. Next was Noble Group which saw 109.3 million shares traded. Third was Ezra with 33.4 million shares.
