SINGAPORE (Oct 10): Singapore shares ended lower in line with most of its regional peers.

As at 5.04pm, the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed 5 points or 0.17% lower at 2,870.24.  In the broader market, 2.2 billion shares valued at $631.5 million changed hands. Gainers outnumbered losers 197 to 181.

Among the STI component stocks, a fall in oil prices saw shares of transport firms Singapore Airlines which fell 0.4% to $10.51 and ComfortDelgro which fell 0.4% to $2.80. Other shares that fell included Singtel which ended 0.3% lower at $3.94, Thai Beverage which closed 2% lower at 97.5 cents and and property group City Developments which closed 0.7% lower at $9.07.
