Straits Times Index closes 0.87% higher at 2,763.82

SINGAPORE (May 20): Singapore stocks ended higher on Friday as oil prices rebounded.

At 5.04pm, the benchmark Straits Times Index closed 0.87% or 23.71 points higher for the day and week at 2,763.82. Nearly 892.7 million shares valued at $885.3 million exchanged hands. Gainers beat losers 204 to 176.

Offshore and marine companies were among the better performers. Courage Marine closed 22.9% higher at 86 cents. Keppel Corp closed 2.7% higher at $5.36 while Sembcorp Industries and Sembcorp Marine gained 3.3% and 2.6% respectively.
