SINGAPORE (Aug 2): Singapore-based Surbana Jurong has acquired a 100% stake in Australia-based SMEC Holdings for $400 million.

Owned by Singapore investment company Temasek Holdings, Surbana Jurong provides consultancy services for urban and infrastructure developments, and provided the technical expertise to build over a million homes and develop Housing & Development Board townships. It was the technical consultant behind most of Singapore’s industrial developments, including Jurong Island. The group also completed masterplans for 30 countries, and developed over 50 industrial parks worldwide.

SMEC provides consultancy services for physical and social infrastructure projects, beginning from the feasibility studies and detailed design, to the construction supervision and the commissioning. In 2016, it was ranked 48 among the top 225 International Design Firms and ranked among the top 150 Global Design Firms.
