SINGAPORE (Sept 19): Thakral Corporation’s jointly owned GTH Resorts has acquired two properties in Queensland, Australia, to develop and operate resort-styled retirement homes for seniors above 50 years of age.

The properties are a 24.89ha Bongaree on Bribie Island, which will have 404 homes, and the 9.4ha Highfields at Toowoomba, which will have 223 homes. Bulk earthworks started in Sept for the former, while the latter is awaiting the necessary approvals. Construction of the homes will start in mid 2017.

According to Thakral, the retirement homes will comprise a gated and landscaped community with resort-styled community facilities . They will be located near to shopping centres, medical facilities, public transport and entertainment venues.
