SINGAPORE (July 21): Steel structure specialist TTJ Holdings says the group’s application for a renewal for a further term of the tenancy for its dormitory at Terusan Lodge I at Jurong has not been approved by the Building and Construction Authority.

However, the group has been successful in securing the tender for the management and operation of an existing foreign workers dormitory situated at Upper Jurong Road. The tenancy for the Jurong dorm will be for three years starting on Aug 1 and ending on July 30 2019. The Jurong dorm has a capacity of approximately 500 workers.

Explaining the non approval, BCA says the site where TTJ’s Terusan dorm is located will be affected by redevelopment works. Currently, the dormitory houses 5,300 workers and is the only workers dorm operated by TTJ. The tenure for the dormitory is set to expire in January 2017.
