SINGAPORE (Aug 23): The annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will be held from Aug 25 to Aug 27. The theme for this year is “Designing Resilient Monetary Policy Frameworks for the Future”.

Why is this meeting important? For one, ABN AMRO‘s chief economist Han De Jong explains that the US has been in recovery for the last 7 years, its third longest recovery since World War 2, and interest rates are still low.

While De Jong does not see any potential shocks, policy mistakes, or unsustainable bottlenecks in the economy that may lead to a recession, he is certain one will occur at some point.
