SINGAPORE (Nov 9): Donald Trump has defied pundits and predictions to win the US presidential elections, what does that mean for the markets and investors, as the world adapts to the new reality of a Trump presidency?

Keith Wade, chief economist and strategist at Schroders, notes that trade wars are now more probable with Trump’s fiscal policies cutting taxes and spending. Such moves will likely lead to higher interest rates, inflation and a bigger budget deficit.

While congress would temper the new president’s fiscal plans, Trump will have more freedom on trade, notes Wade.
